Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to outline the expectations and requirements for per diem employees at Brewster Ambulance Service. Per Diem employees are essential members of our team who work on an occasional basis while fulfilling a minimum work commitment.
Definition
Per Diem Employee: An employee who works on an occasional basis but maintains a minimum of 32 hours each thirty (30) day period.
Requirements
Minimum Hours: Per Diem employees are required to work at least 32 hours within each 30-day period to maintain their status.
Scheduling Minimum Hours: Employees should use TraumaSoft scheduling software to pick up their minimum required shifts. If you are unable, you may contact the Scheduling Department directly:

Already Assigned Hours: If you have 32 or more hours already scheduled for the month, you are not required to check in with the Scheduling Department. However, if you are below the 32-hour requirement, you must contact scheduling via email or phone call to receive the necessary hours.
Employees with last names starting with A-M must contact scheduling on the first Tuesday of each month.
Employees with last names starting with N-Z must contact scheduling on the first Wednesday of each month.
Change of Status
Employees wishing to change their per diem status must submit a written request to their immediate supervisor at least two weeks prior to the desired status change date.
Approval of a change in status is at the sole discretion of Brewster Ambulance Service.
Compliance
It is the responsibility of each per diem employee to ensure they are meeting the requirements outlined in this policy. Failure to meet the minimum monthly hourly requirements and/or check-in requirement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including separation of employment.
By adhering to this policy, per diem employees help ensure the operational efficiency and continued success of Brewster Ambulance Service.
